Free DJ Software - Mixxx - Using Midi Controllers

This is the second review on Mixxx (Part 1 - Overview) and this time is about using MIDI controllers with this free Dj software.
The MIDI controller used in this review was my old Hercules DJ console Mk2.

Free DJ Software - Mixxx - Overview (Alternative to Virtual DJ)

Mixxx it's a free and open source DJ software that runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. It can be a great alternative to Virtual DJ or Traktor. This DJ software is compatible with many MIDI controllers and it's avaliable in many languages.

What is Mixxx?

Mixxx is free mixing software for DJs, providing everything needed to create live mixes. It allows you to beatmatch songs and crossfade them together, like you would with turntables and a mixer.

So far i think Mixxx in a good DJ tool and i hope they keep improving with time to conquer the dance music world leaving the paid software behind.
To help with that i leave here some suggestions:
- Improve Sync mechanism with better beat detection in the songs
- Improve the FX feature
- Allow record in sampler
- Allow zoom of songs waveform

iPad Dj App

So since now a days iPhones and iPads are very popular, i leave here an app called DJAY that allows you to be a DJ anywhere and without much gear.

U-Mix Control Pro - Review

In alternative to the Hercules e2 USB DJ Console that i showed few days ago we have here the U-Mix Control Pro from Mix Vibes that is also not a much expensive equipment and you can do a lots of cool stuff with it.

Also DJ Tutor Channel has a lot of video tutorials to help you become a DJ like "How to mix", "what gear to buy", "how to make a set", "how to mix different genres of music", etc. You have a lot there, i know because i learned most of what  i know from there, but soon i will make a review on his youtube channel and website.

Hercules e2 USB DJ Console - Review

Hercules e2 USB DJ Console it's a midi controller designed for Virtual DJ but can work with any other DJ software that suport midi controllers. This product cost near 90$ and it's a great way for beginners to start Djing. Hercules e2 only has a USB port for power and pc communication and it's very small and light. With this and a PC you can start your Djing carrer with a very small budget, and trust me with this you can do a lot of cool stuff. I know it's not the same as 2 Pionner CDJ and a Mixer but for beginner DJs and bedroom DJs it's not bad for the price.

Virtual DJ Home Edition it's free to download

Virtual DJ it's a very good DJs software and it's a good way to start Djing without spending much money.
With this Home Edition you can do pretty much everything except little things like broadcast, output video in full screen, use a microfone or any other hardware to control Virtual DJ (this one is bad).
In the next days i will do a video review on this free DJ sofware.
